Biography

Rita Simões was born in Viseu, Portugal, in 1987. She received her BSc and MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico  (Lisbon, Portugal) in 2007 and 2009, respectively. The final year of her master's was spent at the University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands) as an exchange student. During this period, she worked on her MSc thesis, at the Biomedical Signals and Systems group. In 2009 she started her PhD at the same University, in the Signals and Systems group. Her PhD research focuses on the early detection of Alzheimer's Disease using Magnetic Resonance images.
