• The SAS face recognition reseach program SurFace. This is an ongoing research program in which BSc and MSc projects are defined, contributing to the development, realization, and ongoing improvement of a surveillance face recognition system. Example projects (but there are more) are:
  • Face detection and tracking with wide-angle and pan-tilt-zoom cameras (15-04-2012)

• Generating artificial fingerprints for enrolment

• 3D face recognition with the Kinect camera. At SAS we have developed a 3D face recognition algorithm which is in the top 3 of the best performing algorithms in the world. We'd like to combine this with a cheap 3D acquisition system like the Kinect in order to realise a cost effective high quality 3D face recognition system. A practical aim would be to realise an access control system for the bicycle stand in the basement of the Waaier. (26/02/2013)
